How to Write Your Essay Based on Sample College Essays

If you want to write your essay based on sample college essays, make sure to read on something with intellectual vitality, creativity, passion and sincerity.  Do not follow the exact format of the sample essays; take note of the required word and space limitations.   Do not follow the same topic as your resources or sample college essays.  You should choose a topic that reveals something positive about you.  You should let your values, priorities, and character come through so that the reader will get to know you better on a personal level.  However, do not go too personal or reveal details that are too emotional or inappropriate.  Moreover, do not include information that appears elsewhere in your application.  If you are writing an essay as a part of application, make sure that you use this chance to showcase a side of you that is not mentioned before.  Do not use the essay as a resume in narrative form.

It is alright to write about your not so impressive grades or average, as long as you can provide a valid reason for that.  If your bad grades were brought about by family problems or other challenges, talk about it.  It is important to explain how you were able to get past this hardship and how you became a better person because of this obstacle.  It is always best to focus on an aspect of yourself that will show your best side especially if you have overcome some adversity, worked through a difficult project, or profited from a specific incident.
Write about what excites you, and don’t be afraid to be sophisticated, detailed, and enthusiastic about it. The introduction is always important.  It’s like readers can get a glimpse whether what they will be reading is interesting.  It should be interesting and impressive enough.  Before submitting your essay, make sure that it has proper grammar spelling and punctuation.

The goal of a college essay is to persuade the admissions officer that you are extremely worthy of admission.  Even seemingly boring essay topics can sound interesting if creatively approached.  Admissions officers want to learn about you and your writing ability. Write about something meaningful and describe your feelings, not necessarily your actions.  Stay away from grand topics that you have little personal experience with.  You can use the essay to describe a favorite activity, to tell a story about yourself.  Just make sure that you capture the readers attention and shows that you are exceptional.
